I was born overseas and came to Los Angeles as an immigrant fleeing war. We had nothing at first, but because of the incredibly hard work of my parents, my sister and I spent our youth in progressively better conditions. It was their dedication to service that sparked mine. Like many immigrants we experienced our share of discrimination and racism, but also great compassion and generosity.
